Annemarie Steidl (BIAAS Grantee) is Associate Professor in the Department of Economic and Social History at the University of Vienna (Austria) and currently head of the department. Her research interests include migration and mobility studies, industrialization and urbanization, history of artisans, gender studies, and quantitative methods. In 2011, she was a Fulbright Guest Professor at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Her publications include Auf nach Wien! [Towards Vienna!], Vienna 2003; together with Wladimir Fischer and James W. Oberly she also wrote From a Multiethnic Empire to a Nation of Nations: Austro-Hungarian Migrants in the US, 1870-1940(Transatlantica 10), Innsbruck 2017.
