Botstiber Scholars Program: Penn State Presidential Leadership Academy Selects Botstiber Scholars

The Penn State Presidential Leadership Academy (PLA) is a prestigious and competitive program that offers curricular and extracurricular opportunities for high-achieving students. Freshmen are invited to apply through a rigorous application process, which includes having a 3.2 GPA and submitting two essays and two letters of recommendation. Only 30 students are accepted each year.

These students spend the next three years within the program developing their leadership skills and critical thinking. They have the opportunity to participate in special courses, trips and other programming that will develop their leadership skills throughout the rest of their time at Penn State.

This year, we are proud to announce that rising sophomore and Flavia Kung’u and Belinda Mativenga were accepted into the Presidential Leadership Academy as a part of their 2019 Class. They will join Botstiber Scholars, Faith Shipapa (PLA 2018 Class) and Emmy Muhoza and Caleb Musekiwa, who are in the PLA’s 2017 Class.
